Lighthouse Challenge Dates, Information and CancellationsThe Florida Lighthouse Day will be held on April 24, 2010. Forgotten Coast Lighthouse Challenge will be held on April 24 & 25, 2010. Please go to http://www.stgeorgelight.org/challenge/default.htm for more information. Martha's Vineyard Challenge will be held June 11 - 13, 2010. Please go to www.mvy.com and click on Lighthouse Challenge for more information. Midcoast Maine Lighthouse Challenge June 26 & 27th. A sunset cruise will be held on Friday the 25. More information will be posted when available. Canceled Lighthouse Challenges Long Island Challenge The Long Island Lighthouse Challenge has been canceled until further notice. Please see the information below which is from their web site. The Board of Directors of the Long Island Chapter has announced that there will not be a Long Island Lighthouse Challenge in 2010. Unfortunately, we have been unable to attract enough volunteers to support the large planning effort and operational staffing required for such a large event. It is hoped that the Challenge can be revived in subsequent years. We wish to express our appreciation to all who participated in the challenge weekends and those who invested their time and effort to assure the success of the challenges over the past five years. Maryland Challenge Due to the poor economy and lack of State and County funding the Maryland Lighthouse Challenge has been canceled. I have been informed they hope to come back in 2011 with a bigger and better challenge. Lights Across the Border Challenge Has been canceled. Plans are to come back in 2012. It is very sad to see these challenges canceled. Hopefully their plans to return in the next couple years will come to fruition. Without funds and volunteers there is not much that can be done. Tom |
