New England Lighthouse Lovers -  NELL

To all NELL Members,
 
I have received notice from Tim Harrison, President of ALF, (our parent organization) that at a community meeting held at the Cutler United Methodist Church in Cutler, Maine, a new lighthouse group -- Friends of Little River Lighthouse was formed on August 7, 2007 (National Lighthouse Day)and are an official chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation.

At this meeting the following officers were elected.

Chairman - Hal Biering
1st Vice Chair - David Corbett
2nd Vice Chair - Marilyn Murdock
Treasurer - Karen Staake
Co-Secretaries - Kathleen Finnegan and Judy Corbett

Appointed, each as Honorary Chairman, were Neil Corbett and Purcell Corbett, who are the only surviving children of Willie Corbett, the last person to be a keeper of the United States Lighthouse Service at Little River Lighthouse.

Tim stated in his announcement that "This is another positive step forward for the long term care of the once endangered Little River Lighthouse through local community support as well as another process in the growth of ALF."
