Nauset Light Preservation Society - In response to the Coast Guard's announcement in 1993 that Nauset Lighthouse was surplus, to be darkened, and that no money was available to move the tower from the edge of the eroding cliff, the Nauset Light Preservation Society was formed to save the light. By 1996 the NLPS had raised enough money to have the light moved.

In November of that year, the light was moved to its present location. At the re-lighting ceremony on May 10, 1997, ownership of the light was transferred from the Coast Guard to the National Park Service. Finally in 2004, the Cape Cod National Seashore signed an agreement with NLPS to formally recognize the fact that NLPS is, and since 1996 has been, the organization that maintains the light and conducts tours and open houses for the public. This year's plan is to do a major restoration of the lighthouse and oil house. Their website is: http://www.nausetlight.org/
