To Lighthouse Lovers

This is to let you know what you missed

At about 8:30 AM on the 17th of August, 2002 a small group of seven lighthouse lovers, all members of NELL, met for an experience of a lifetime on the dock at Project Oceanography in Groton Connecticut at Avery Point. This two-day trip was a hand's on restoration and preservation effort for New London Ledge Light.
Seven members of the New England lighthouse Lovers made the two-day stay at the light. They Worked, enjoyed each others company, worked some more, enjoyed meals together, relaxed and enjoyed the view and fireworks show, slept on the floor, enjoyed a excellent breakfast, worked some more, cleaned up things and headed for the shower. What a wonderful experience it was, and to see as we pulled away to look back and see that our visit had made a difference.

This first photo is of our destination taken from the dock .

Would you believe seven people one night?

The boat loaded, we are now under way

A view of Avery Point Light without the lantern room.

A long-distance view of where we are going.

The third Light in view, New London Harbour Light.

Getting closer to our home for two days.

We have arrived and must have a group photo!

The group minus one.

Nice to have friends, in case of an emergency
