| Congratulatory letter
e-mailed to the APLSCo-Chairs on their very successful event.
Jim, Ron, and Dale,
Congratulations to you and all of the APLS members on bringing your
collective dream to fruition, relighting the Avery Point Light in a gala
evening of ceremony and celebration !
On behalf of the New England Lighthouse Lovers I thank you for allowing
NELL to be an integral part of this historic event. The members relished
the opportunity to help in greeting the public and VIPs, and at the same
time to interest those attending in continuing the preservation of this
historic lighthouse through the sale of the APLS merchandise, event
commemoratives, and memorial bricks.
The luminaria were a perfect touch as they led the way to the beautifully
lighted and decorated tower. As the evening grew darker, the sunset,
passing submarine (great timing), and glowing tower were a spectacular
backdrop for the event speakers.
Despite the stiff cool breeze, they say that "all's well that ends well",
and that flashing green light brought a fitting end to the whole event.
The large gathering of dignitaries and the public enjoyed that
immensely, and great media coverage sent it out statewide.
You all deserve huge credit for both completing the project and a very
well planned, successful, and memorable relighting event.
Tom Pregman, President
New England Lighthouse Lovers
